I remember CPO Sharkey--but, like you guys, I mostly watched it because my parents did, so it was on. Barnaby Jones I would sometimes see because it was on in reruns in the afternoon, so it was an alternative to game shows when I was home then--maybe when I was in college? I'm not sure. It surely did not make a strong impression! You'd think I would have clear memories of Walter Cronkite, but I don't. When I was a child, my parents didn't watch the evening news (only the nightly news, when we were already in bed), because they didn't think we'd react well to seeing a war on our TV. ... They were probably right about that. I've heard (in documentaries) that he was the one who insisted on the newsroom set for the news, and also that he insisted on being the...I think it was managing editor? So that he had final say as to what stories aired. It's a great pity we no longer have TV newsmen that insist on only reporting VERIFIED stories, as he did.

hey gang great great show as always good selections for this podcast cant wat for the next ones. hey anthony i have a theory and how barnaby jones did not get hit by any of those 87 millon bullets that u were talking about. i think the old timer put on some bullet proof ben gay that none of us are aware of i then it was hush hush tell now. ill bet u anthony that those bullets would have bounced off that big gutt of yours. well bob and dave and myself also know that you have a pretty big steel trap also[[ laugh out loud ]] i just had to give some one some shit. and walter cronkite was the man. he told it like it was just think if he and issac newton and albert istein would have all lived at the same time wow. that would have been quite the trio. see you next time happy holidays everyone jamie.

Lost opportunity on their parts!

I clearly remember when Walter Cronkite retired because my parents watched him every night and we're quite angry with CBS when they made him retire. After that last episode, they flipped over to NBC for their news and never switched back. They still watch the NBC Nightly News every night. I was more forgiving, I guess. I've watched CBS Evening News just about every night for as long as I remember. I think Bob Schieffer is the only one that comes close to Cronkite. I don't watch CNN or any of the others cable networks unless there is a crisis. 30 minutes of news a night is plenty for me. This was another great episode of Best Episode Ever. The comments about Wolf Blitzer dipping his face in salt and pepper Shake N Bake were right on the money!

Just a show suggestion (since for no discernible reason it popped into my head)--how about Fame?
