You know, I always wanted to like Tales of the Gold Monkey, a pilot, he wore a cool leather flight jacket, and the time period are right in my sweet spot. That said, I never got into the show. I think it was usually on opposite hockey, and hockey always wins....

This was a very interesting discussion.

Oddly, you should mention Buck Rogers. There is this independent production going on that is remaking Buck Rogers for the web. http://youtu.be/8YY0-lSg3-k
This group also produced Star Trek Phase II.

The description of what a remake of Welcome Back Kotter should be sounds like a premise for Community.

I don't know if any of you watched William Shatner in S#*!, My Dad Says. At the height of the series short run, he was actually channeling Archie Bunker. He has great comedic timing with good material. Even in this show, he had to cope with having 2 sons move in with him, due to economic change.

I pretty much watched the full run of S#*! My Dad Says and he was cast well. That's the key with a character as present as he is on screen. He was great as Denny Crane too. In almost all cases though, he's just Shatner.
Most of the actors on Community look too young for Welcome Back Kotter. :-)
Afraid to check out a Buck remake... though my impulse may get the better of me.
