I think it only fair for me to point out that minutes after recording this episode, I'd installed the Jingle Bells app on my iPhone. I am now as sad as Dave

I am glad to be your inspiration....

Wow! Consumers Distributing... I don't think anyone I know now remember this. It was one of the first places I exercised my power of spending.

Christmas themed episodes... My fondest memories are from watching Little House on the Prairie reruns. Just the other day, I saw Christmas at Plum Creek, which was from the first season. The other one was from the 8th season -- A Christmas They Never Forgot.

I remember walking into Consumers and filling out the order slips for the toy du jour, walking up to the counter only to have my hopes dashed when they were out of stock. I still have nightmares about that blue formica counter top... but I loved that catalogue!

Then there was Consumer's competitor 'Shoprite' they did not last long.

Love the podcast, amazing how I made it a point to watch the Christmas episodes you mentioned (Rankin/Bass. Charlie Brown, WKRP) before I listened to this episode. I found this podcast because of the one you did on The Monkees. I thought they had a memorable Christmas one. Love the audio clips at the end. Hope you are having a great holiday season and thanks for the shows.

PS "Christmas Time is Here" is NOT on Clay Aiken's Christmas CD - some people like his singing: looking squarely at the one who made that quip ;)
Chicago had a pretty good version on their 1st Christmas CD, though.

I also really like Sanford and Son episode "Ebenezer Sanford" , really my favorite of the "Christmas Carol" variations.

If you need more xmas classic TV, ceck out Kliph's Classic Tv Showbiz, http://classicshowbiz.blogspot.ca A great blog normally, but he's on a great xmas tear these days

To be clear... I meant the OTHER Clay Aikin. ;-)
