I can't believe you didn't mention the brilliant Simpsons' take on School House Rock -- the Amendment -- that made Lisa and Bart angry enough about Gen X to say "We need another Vietnam to thin out their ranks." It ran in season 7 (back when the Simpsons was still a funny show) when Itchy and Scratchy was pulled because of a copyright dispute.

I learned a LOT from Schoolhouse Rock and they have definitely become a part of my vernacular -- I still say "Hooray! I'm for the other team," when sportscasters talk about spectacular fumbles. I did play them for my daughter when she was younger but she doesn't quite get them.

The style was very complementary to the stuff being done on Sesame Street and the Electric Company at the time, too (think of the 1-2-3-4-5...12 pinball song or the Adventures of Letterman) I think the 70s were a great time to be a kid.

I will always maintain my maxim: I wish my life was a 70's Saturday morning.

There have been many parodies including this one on Family Guy (short): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf2q66G3lmM

And a series of MADtv ones:
