As a 7-year-old in 1966, whose favorite things in the world were astronauts and dinosaurs, I LOVED this show. Seeing it some 50+ years later, it's clear that it would have been better served as Saturday morning fodder for kids. My guess is that, since Schwartz had previously written for Bob Hope, had actually been the head writer for The Red Skelton Show, and now had a hit with Gilligan's Island, he had enough clout to pull in erstwhile comedy stars Imogene Coca and Joe E. "Ooh! Ooh!" Ross and convince CBS executives to foist the show on prime time viewers. Hey, we'd already bought into a human-like robot (My Living Doll), an alien rooming with a human (My Favorite Martian, for which Schwartz was a script supervisor), a genie living with an astronaut, and a talking horse, so why not? BTW, not only was the theme song awesome, so was the animation that accompanied it.
